Understanding the Difference: Minor vs. Major Servicing
To keep your car running reliably, regular maintenance is divided into minor and major service intervals. Each service serves a specific preventative purpose to help you avoid unexpected breakdowns and expensive repair bills.
Minor Car Servicing
Typically performed every 6 months or 10,000 kilometres (whichever comes first), a minor car service is designed to maintain engine health and conduct essential safety checks. Our minor service includes:
Premium engine oil replacement.
High-quality oil filter replacement.
Meticulous under-bonnet fluid checks and top-ups (including coolant, brake fluid, and windscreen washer fluids).
Full battery and charging system health test.
Comprehensive tyre pressure check and rotation (if required).
Exhaustive safety inspection of brakes, steering, and suspension.
Major Car Servicing
A major car service is a highly detailed inspection and component replacement program typically required every 24 months or 40,000 kilometres. In addition to all the minor service tasks, our major service includes:
Spark plug replacement (where applicable)
Cabin and engine air filter replacements
Fuel filter inspection and replacement
Meticulous brake inspection, including wheel cylinder checks, brake pad wear, and shoe lining measurements
Cooling system pressure test to detect leaks
Full diagnostic scan to check for stored vehicle fault codes
Meticulous road-testing by our senior mechanics.
The Importance of Professional Car Maintenance
Failing to maintain a regular service schedule can lead to rapid engine wear, increased fuel consumption, and safety hazards. By trusting Gary and our local team of experts with your vehicle, you ensure that every part is checked by an experienced professional. We stand behind our work with a comprehensive local service guarantee.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a minor service keep my new car warranty active?
Yes. Our licensed mechanics perform all log book servicing according to the exact schedule set out by your vehicle's manufacturer, which fully satisfies all warranty conditions.
How long does a major car service take?
A major service is highly thorough and typically takes between 3 to 4 hours to complete. We recommend booking in advance so we can ensure your vehicle is returned to you as quickly as possible.
Do you offer a warranty on the parts used during servicing?
Yes. We use only premium-grade, manufacturer-approved parts and lubricants, all of which are covered by their respective manufacturer warranties alongside our workshop's local workmanship guarantee.
